Having spent well over $1,000,000 on search engine marketing I’ve learned a number of things the hard way. Below I’ll share my most important lessons with you.
It is easy to make big money mistakes as you learn about search engine marketing. While some companies turn to using a pay per click advertising firm other people decide to leap in and do it themselves.
When you hire a ppc advertizing firm to provide you with ppc advertizing services you will be paying a premium rate for their expertise. Most search companies like Google (
) will provide you with a lot of assistance to help you slowly get your online pay per click advertising campaign working. I say “slowly” because it will simply take more back and forth communications and time for you to learn.
Need to Get Started Right Now With Search Engine Marketing
I admit I’ve never paid an out company or search engine marketing firm for help with my search engine marketing or a pay per click firm for PPC advertising help. I started advertising online in 1994 and learned my valuable lessons as the internet grew.
However, if I was starting from scratch today and getting into PPC advertising or search engine marketing and I was in a hurry then I would seriously consider paying a premium for expert and professional help from a company like through this link -

Search Engine Marketing and PPC Marketing Lessons
Lesson 1. Start Cheap When you get into search engine marketing or pay per click advertising it is important to take baby steps. Everything you will experience in pay per click advertising and search engine marketing will be new to you. Unless you keep a constant vigil on your online campaigns then it can be easy to let the money poor out of your hands as you learn valuable lessons.
I can’t speak highly enough about the tools, care and support that Google Adwords has given me over the years. I currently spend about $1,000 a day with them and find I get a tremendous return for my money. And that is primarily because I get value for my money through smart advertising techniques.
There are several main search engine companies but without a doubt the most important has got to be Google, followed by Yahoo and lastly, MSN. You will also find a number of other smaller search engines out there like Search 123 or Compete but I would suggest that you learn your lessons with Google or Yahoo! Search Marketing in the UK or Yahoo! in the US.
I would not suggest that you start by spending more than $10 a day in ads until you get your feet wet. There is no need to spend a fortune advertising learning about search engine marketing or pay per click advertising until you learn some of the basics which I’ll talk about in my posts on this site. I would suggest that if you have not done so already that you subscribe to the email or RSS feed for this search engine marketing site to get the latest posts.
Lesson 2. Test Ads I can’t stress enough how important it is to never run just one pay per click advertisement for your search engine marketing campaign. I still run at least one test ad even on my best performing keyword pay per click advertising campaigns just to confirm that it is still the best performing ad.
That one keyword pay per click advertising advert that I wrote began as a test ad but immediately stood out as an award winning advertisement. And the value of a good advertisement is that you don’t need to be in the most expensive advertising position to get good traffic and a lower cost through your ad and to your site.
Lesson 2. Test Keywords In any pay per click advertising campaign or search engine marketing effort the right keyword is going to be critical to your success. The keyword is that word which you pay to trigger the display of your advertisement. In order to get your advertisement to have impact you need to get the right combination of keyword, advertising words and landing page for the visitor to make their way through. A successful search engine marketing campaign does not rest only on the quality of the ad or the quality of the keyword.
We’ll get into it more in upcoming posts but I would strongly suggest that you use a keyword research tool to find those words that will work best for you. And while Google offers some excellent tools to give you an idea about the number of searches on a keyword, there is more to it than just traffic measurements. That why a good keyword research tool is so important.
